Any decision of the Employment Tribunal can be appealed.
Any appeal is made on a point of Law only (not a finding of fact) and is made to the Employment Appeal Tribunal.
An appeal must be made within 42 days of the Employment Tribunal sending out their written decision.
It is possible to receive funding from the Community Legal Service (previously known as legal aid). In the Employment Appeal Tribunal it is unlikely, although possible, that if a person loses he/she will have to pay the other side's costs. If a person is considering an appeal, expert legal advice should be sort.
In the alternative, a person may seek a review of the decision. This will be made by the Tribunal who made the original decision. Such an application for a review must be made within 14 days of receiving the full reasons from the Tribunal which can be requested after the decision has been given verbally or in summary form.
