Employment Law Explained

Part Time Workers

The Part Time Workers (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations came into force in July 2000. The Regulations enable part time workers to gain parity with their full time counterparts.

The Regulations also provide that it is automatically unfair to dismiss a worker or subject them to any other detriment for asserting any rights under the Regulations in relation to their part time status. No qualifying period is required for such "automatically" unfair dismissal claims.
